30th Juz - A Textual Analysis
This twenty-week course offers a purely textual analysis of the 30th juz of the Quran. In this course we will explore:
The history of revelation
The history of revelation, transmission, collection, arrangement, and standardization of the Divine scriptures, particularly the Quran.
Various approaches towards Quranic exegesis
The various primary sources of Qur'anic Exegesis and their distinct features.
Textual Analysis tool-kit
Techniques of mapping, paragraphing, & contextual placement of text.
The textual structure, & significant themes of the various chapters
The rhetorical style of the 30th juz.
The chapter’s connection with the Prophetic Timeline
Relationship of the 30th Juz to the Prophetic mission, within its historical context.
Course Goals: At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Understand the revelation, transmission, collection, arrangement, and standardization of the Qur’an.
2. Display a deeper understanding of the primary sources of Qur'anic Exegesis and their distinct features
3. Apply the techniques of mapping, paragraphing, & contextual placement of text
4. Comprehend the rhetorical style of the 30th juz.
5. Discover how the 30th juz relates to the Prophetic mission, within its historical context.
6. Build a foundational sense of Grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of the Quran.
